In Memory of Gerald “Jerry” Gunset: Honoring a Legacy of Service and Partnership

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald “Jerry” Gunset, a key figure in the creation and growth of Renegade Services’ Snyder District. Jerry, passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 85. His contribution to Renegade cannot be overstated. He was a visionary leader, a loyal partner, and above all, a man of faith, honesty, and integrity.

Jerry’s journey with Renegade began in 2011, when he and his son, Gary Gunset, made the decision to merge their family-owned business, Production Logging, with Renegade Services. Production Logging, which Jerry and his wife Eloise had founded in 1979, was built on the same principles that Renegade values today—dedication to quality, customer service, and employee care. Jerry’s deep roots in the wireline industry, dating back to the late 1960s, laid a solid foundation for this partnership, which has continued to thrive under the leadership of his son Gary, now the Snyder District Manager.

Jerry’s relationship with Renegade was more than just business—it was built on friendship, trust, and shared values. As Steve Gray, a board member at Renegade, recalls, he first met Jerry in the early 1970s when they worked together in the wireline business. That bond remained strong, and years later, when the opportunity arose to merge Production Logging into Renegade, both men were excited to reunite. The unique partnership they forged between their two companies was a testament to their mutual respect and desire to support each other’s businesses.

Jerry’s legacy lives on through the employees and operations at Renegade’s Snyder District. He was a man who believed in doing the right thing, no matter the cost. His emphasis on honesty and providing excellent service helped Renegade earn the trust of countless companies in the area. Even in retirement, Jerry and Eloise continued to support the Snyder District, with Jerry passing his knowledge and experience on to future generations of oilfield workers.

As we mourn the loss of Jerry, we also celebrate the life he lived and the values he left behind. His commitment to excellence, his devotion to his family, and his service to others will continue to inspire us. His life was one of purpose, grounded in faith, integrity, and love for his family and community.
