Boost Well Performance With Renegade Tracer Technology
Renegade Tracer Technologies delivers proven tracer services nationwide. While headquartered out of the Andrews, Texas district, the group isn’t tied to any one geographic region or play.
A centrally located analytical laboratory in Tulsa, Oklahoma, supports operations across the country. Launched in 2010, just shortly after Renegade itself, Tracer Technologies has grown alongside the company. With support from Renegade’s wireline districts serving as satellite offices, tracer services are available in oil and gas plays across the U.S. and are backed by highly trained tracer specialists on every job.
Renegade Tracer Technologies offers two main tracer types: Radioactive Tracer Services and Chemical Tracer Services, which include water tracers and oil tracers.
Renegade’s Spectral Well Analysis Technology (SWAT) provides post-frac logging tools designed to identify and define radioactive isotopes, delivering real-time or memory data in a compact 1-11/16-in. OD configuration.
In 2023, Renegade expanded its capabilities with the addition of a state-of-the-art laboratory, advancing from traditional GCMS (Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometry) to LCMF (Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometry). This upgrade allows the team to add compounds and significantly increase the number of tracer allocations available to clients. Currently, Renegade offers 74 water tracers and 74 oil tracers with an additional 16 of each in development. With this, Renegade remains unmatched among competitors in the industry. Renegade Tracer Technologies employs calibration testing to measure tracer return rates on a normalized 1:1 basis. These calibration studies are conducted within common test intervals to evaluate proppant transport and provide formation-specific performance insights.
Renegade tracers are applicable across a broad scope of services in the oil and gas industry including multi-well and multi-stage, unconventional and conventional development.

Most common applications and one new application:
Flow assurance By monitoring tracer movement, flow can be confirmed across intervals. For example, confirming a dissolvable plug actually dissolved and fluid is consistently flowing from the toe of the well through the lateral and uphole. This is especially helpful in long, multistage laterals to check performance of each stage.
Production profiles This process helps confirm fluid type and flow over time in a new development or new zone by identifying which intervals are producing and what type of fluid are in each. Typically taken over a two-month period, this method provides much more robust data than a logging profile, which collects data only at a specific point in time. The results allow the operator a quick way to check fluid type in each interval. The presence of hydrocarbons can further justify the investment.
Infill Development In today’s complicated well placement scenarios, tracer surveys can be used to check well interaction and help determine future well placement. In a ‘winerack’ configuration, for example, this interaction can tell if the wells are too close or too far apart. This is critical data for field or asset development.
Data Analytics and Client Reporting Cloud based, Aradia reporting to clients for simpler integration of data with other operator analysis programs. Data is exportable in csv format so the clients can use the raw data. Client deviation surveys can be used to visually enhance the data analytics.
Recordable Flow Metering Quality assurance feature captures rate/time/volume of the tracer to help measure overall job performance.
Sampling collection and coordination Renegade provides an in-house sampling coordinator as part of our standard service, avoiding any complications with shipping and receiving.
Real-Time job monitoring with high-resolution 3D viewing and summarization of job analytics. Results can be viewed over time creating 4D animation of the results.
A large geographic reach, cutting-edge technology and a growing list of applications that cover the life cycle of oil and gas development keep Renegade Tracer Technology moving forward. This innovative technology brings together the highest standards of Renegade service, consistency, and performance.
